Morning Skincare Routine | Spring 2021

Easy Morning Routine for my Acne-Prone Skin

It's the morning, I'm half asleep, so I want to keep my skincare routine quick and simple with only 4-5 steps. My goal in the morning is to hydrate my skin and protect it from the sun and any other free radicals. I mainly want to make sure my post-inflammatory pigmentation doesn't get worse than it already is.

Since I'm WFH for most of the week, I usually stick to skincare and don't bother too much with makeup, but if I do, it would be a little Glossier Cloud Paint and that's it.

At the moment, my skin is normal to dry, slowly getting oily as the weather starts getting warmer. In case you're wondering, I usually don't cleanse my skin with a cleanser in the morning, unless my skin really needs it.

Products I use:

La Roche Posay Soothing Lotion Toner  - An optional step but this toner is the perfect base for both my morning and evening skincare, all year long. You could also use water for this step but this just helps the products soak into my skin better. Whenever I have some inflammation going on, this also helps calm it down.

Vichy Minéral 89 Daily Booster  - Bought this at the beginning of the month and I just fell in love. This just gives my skin the moisture I didn't know it needed. The HA in this product perfectly plumps my tired morning skin and helps nourish it more than a moisturiser would. This one has become an instant favourite of mine!

Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser  - Just like the brand says, this is a simple and light moisturiser to wear daily. I'm not really into actives in my moisturiser during the day, so this one brings the perfect amount of hydration and protection to my skin. I've gone through countless bottles of this one, if you're looking for a super simple formula, I highly recommend this one.

The Nue Co Topical C  - As someone who struggles with pigmentation, Vitamin C is an ingredient I need to have in my routine to help brighten my skin. The Nue Co Topical C is like an elevated version of The Ordinary L-Ascorbic Powder. Both only activate when you mix it with a moisturiser or a serum for the best results. The Nue Co one also has ingredients like Aloe to calm any inflammation you'd want to fight.

La Roche Posay Anthelios Fluid SPF 50 - For the past 3 years, not a day has gone by without me wearing this sunscreen. If you wear makeup, this has the best consistency to wear under it as your skin absorbs it really well while still protecting from both UVA and UVB rays. I've tried other sunscreens but I always go back to this one and I'm pretty sure this will forever be in my cabinet.

  1. Adapen Gel is a medication used in the treatment of mild to moderate acne. It prevents the formation of small pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads on the skin. It reduces excessive oil production of the skin and reduces inflammation or cleans the blocked pores.
